Abd Allah is 12 years old, and Zainab is 9 years old. They are with hearing disability since birth. They live with their mother and two other siblings, their father died years ago.

In 2014, they had to flee their house due to the heavy bombings that caused damages into their house.

They have lived same nightmare of horror and fear in the past days, their area was severely bombed. They left their house amid crying and panic. They have witnessed their uncle receiving an injury in front of their eyes. Both children expressed that they were afraid to die.

Now, the family sought shelter in one of the UNRWA schools. They are living in a harsh humanitarian situation, while they still live the moments of agitation every single second.

“When this aggression will become to an end? I want to live a peaceful life with no fears? Do we have to experience those moments again and again? I want to go back home to my room and toys?” Expresses Abd Allah in sign language.

In political conflict and exposure to situations of great violence also cause psychological and stress-related disorders amongst children in all age groups, with children with disabilities especially children with hearing disabilities being no exception. Unable to understand what is going on around them in a crisis situation, children with hearing disabilities experience great feelings of helplessness, confusion, and untold fear.

Two key treaties - the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and its Optional Protocol entitle the protection of children with disabilities rights in conflict times.
