Atfaluna Partners with Save the Children International
Gaza City, Palestine, 26 June 2018 - Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) signed a strategic partnership agreement with Save the Children International (oPt) in the course of expanding efforts to fulfill its mandate towards improving the lives of children with hearing disabilities.
The two non-profit organizations initiated their joint efforts by setting off a two-month project titled “Support Children with Disabilities Mainly Deaf Children with Assistive Devices and Hearing Aids” which aims at providing preliminary hearing screening for 200 in need children in Gaza, as well as the provision of hearing aids to 45 children identified with hearing loss.
The This project extends between May-July 2018 and aims at improving the quality of life of children with hearing disabilities, their families and communities, as well as increasing their opportunities for education and a better future.
“This project is a first step towards the foundation of a sustainable partnership with Save the Children International with a view to develop a society where everyone enjoys their rights equally”, Said Mr. Naim Kabaja, ASDC Director.
Such projects are crucial to save the potential of children who suffer hearing loss, and yet are not detected. Thus, ASDC urges public and private health sectors to invest more in this field to make preliminary hearing screening a must for newborns, and across all age groups.
Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children ASDC is a registered Palestinian NGO located in Gaza City, has been working in the fields of hearing disability and community development since 1992.
